Uptown Brewing Com. raised $150,000 from two investors, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing.

The investment will allow the company to further invest in their brewery, the taste of its beers and expand its business.

Uptown Brewing was founded by Bill Dunn, Donald Dunn and Ben Self in 2016. Bill Dunn realized that Greenville needed a local quality craft brewery.

Bill Dunn, Donald Dunn and Ben Self first started brewing beer in a garage, and after a few weeks, Self had been brewing batches in Donald Dunn’s carport. Soon they were able to brew their first production batch on Evans Street and were able to open their brewing company shortly after.

Before Uptown Brewing Co. was created, Bill Dunn and his brother, Donald had been entrepreneurs in Greenville and had invested in the community their entire lives.

Self had worked in the craft brewing industry for a couple of years in quality and consulting before he helped found the company.

The SEC filing can be found here.

Companies relying on a Reg D exemption do not have to register their offering of securities with the SEC, but they must file what’s known as a Form D electronically with the SEC after they first sell their securities.
