Ameritox To Permanently Close Its Greensboro Location

A medication monitoring company will close its Greensboro laboratory, resulting in the termination of 105 positions within the company.

The news comes as Ameritox LLC is also closing its Maryland headquarters and laying off 99 workers there.

“The reason for the closure is an asset sale of tangible assets and a closure of all company operations and facilities,” said Chief Executive Officer Todd Garner in a letter to the North Carolina Department of Commerce.

All affected employees have been notified, though no employees of the company are represented by a union, therefore no bumping rights exists for the employees.

The branch will close May 4, 2018, according to the notice.

The company’s Maryland headquarters will also shut down, according to a filing with the state. The state of its Texas branch, the company’s only other location, is unclear.

Due to the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, companies are required to submit WARN notices to the Department of Commerce to announce pending layoffs.

So far in 2018, more than 1,700 North Carolina workers have lost their jobs through layoffs accounted by WARN notices. The notice is the first in 2018 in Guilford County, where Greensboro is located.
