Ello Raw Raises $35,000

Ello Raw Inc., an all-natural dessert company, raised $35,000, according to a filing Tuesday with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The Raleigh-based company raised the money in the form of an option and hopes to raise another $15,000.

Out of the money raised, $15,000 will be paid to executive officers, namely Rebecca Holmes, founder of the company.

The company sells raw, vegan desert bites in flavors such as cinnamon donut, chocolate chip cookie dough, goji cacao brownie and pecan pie.

The bites are sold in local stores like Bulldega Urban Market in Durham and Standard Foods in Raleigh, in addition to three Whole Foods stores in the Triangle. Customers can also purchase the products online at the company’s website.

Holmes, chief executive officer, founded Ello Raw in 2016 when she was a student at Duke University. She participated in the Melissa & Doug Entrepreneurs Program, a year-long initiative that students with support and funding to build their start-up ideas.

Holmes graduated from Duke University with a B.A. in dance and a minor in education.

Justin Wright-Eakes, who is listed as a director on the filing, is a Raleigh-based investor who focuses on private equity, real estate and early-stage venture investments.

Wright-Eakes graduated from the Kenan-Flagler Business School at UNC-Chapel Hill with a B.S. in business administration.
