A New Jersey-based commercial solutions company will terminate nearly 270 employees at its Raleigh branch in April due to poor business conditions, according to a WARN Notice filed with the North Carolina Department of Commerce.
Conduent Commercial Solutions’ 267 layoffs will occur “on or about” April 3. The summary report indicated the branch will not close.
The layoffs largely affect the company’s customer care positions as 253 from the division will lose their jobs. Conduent provided the following list detailing the positions affected:
Conduent, which trades using the ticker CNDT on the New York Stock Exchange, has seen its stock fall by about 12 cents per share Tuesday, nearly a 1 percent decrease to $15.47 from Monday’s close of $15.59.
The company employs more than 90,000 individuals in more than 40 countries, according to its website.
Due to the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, companies are required to submit WARN notices to the North Carolina Department of Commerce to announce pending layoffs.
So far in 2018, nearly 1,400 North Carolina workers have lost their jobs through layoffs accounted by WARN notices. Of those, 592 of those layoffs occurred in Wake County, where Raleigh is located.
