Charlotte ranks sixth in the revenue per employee of middle market firms among the 25 largest U.S. metropolitan areas, according to the American Express Middle Market Power Index.
The average revenue per middle market firm employee in the United States is just more than $176,000. Charlotte achieved one of the nation’s highest rankings, averaging $186,415 per employee.
The index examines the strength of middle market firms and their impact on respective economies, according to the press release.
The metropolitan area includes Charlotte, Concord, Gastonia, and other areas in both North Carolina and South Carolina.
Charlotte also ranked 24th for revenue, an average total of nearly $55 million per firm, and 25th for employment, averaging nearly 295 employees per firm.
Additionally, the metropolitan area ranked 24th in the number of middle market firms.
