Military technology company ARMA Global Inc. will lay off 99 employees at its site in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

The layoffs come as ARMA Global will lose its contract with the United States government to operate in Fayetteville on March 31, 2018. The site the company has been operating is at Fort Bragg, a U.S. military installation in Fayetteville and the largest installation of its kind in the world.

ARMA Global provides services in information technology for military sites in the U.S. Its focus is improving the efficiency and capability of technology used by soldiers during missions across the globe.

The company is a subsidiary of General Dynamics, a global aerospace and defense company and one of the largest defense contractors in the world.

The announcement came in accordance with the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, which requires companies like ARMA Global to give a 60-day notice of mass layoffs.

The company sent the notification in a letter to the N.C. Department of Commerce, who is responsible for forming and deploying a rapid response team to assist workers facing impending layoffs. These rapid response teams help ease the transition for affected workers and introduce them to other potential job opportunities.

The company also provided the notice to its impacted employees.

The notice was filed pursuant to the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act, which must be filed 60 days in advance of a plant closing that affects more than 50 employees in a 30-day period or a mass layoff of at least 500 employees or between 50 to 499 employees if they make up at least one-third of the employer’s workforce.
