HMSHost Foundation Fights Poverty in Raleigh-Durham with $30,000 in Grants

HMSHost Foundation’s fight against poverty is impacting the Raleigh-Durham area through $30,000 in grants from fundsraised at a charity golf tournament at Grandover Golf Resort.Today,HMSHost representativeswere joined by Raleigh-Durham International Airportrepresentatives to present grants to Durham Rescue Mission and Raleigh Rescue Mission. HMSHost Foundationhosted the tournament andalso previously made grants toBlessings in a Backpack and Classroom Central from the tournament fundraiser.

“HMSHost Foundation is proud to provide critical support to these charities that do so much for the community. These groups are very active in Raleigh-Durham and are well-aligned with key elements of our mission to fight poverty in the local community with food, shelter, education, and workforce development,” said HMSHost Foundation President Paul Mamalian.

Raleigh Rescue Mission is also supported by HMSHost Corporation’s restaurant operations at Raleigh-Durham International Airport in the form of a food donation program. Through a partnership with Second Harvest, HMSHost Corporation donates roughly 1,400 pounds of high quality foodmonthlyto Raleigh Rescue Mission. In 2016, HMSHost Corporation donated approximately 1.5 million pounds of food to community food banks across the country.

Among tournament donors and attendees was The Dale Jr. Foundationwhich is based in North Carolina.HMSHost Corporation and Dale Earnhardt Jr. have a partnership in theDale Jr.’s Whisky River restaurant in Charlotte Douglas International Airport and in January, the pairplans to open another location of thisUSA Today 10Best Readers’ Choice Travel Awards-recognized restaurant in Raleigh-Durham International Airport.
