Snyder’s Lance Inc.’s chief executive officer saw a 61 percent increase in total compensation in the company’s 2016 fiscal year due to an increase in base salary, stock awards and incentive plan, according to a Securities and Exchange filing.
Carl E. Lee Jr.’s compensation for the fiscal year totaled $3.46 million, up from $2.14 million in the company’s 2015 fiscal year.
He was awarded $1.33 million in non-equity incentive plan compensation, a cash amount paid under the company’s 2016 annual incentive plan and 2014 three-year performance incentive plan for officers and key managers.
Lee’s salary for fiscal year 2016 was $860,000, up 3 percent from his fiscal year 2015 base salary of $835,000. His stock awards also increased to $625,000, an increase of 25 percent from his 2015 fiscal year stock awards of $500,000.
Alexander W. Pease, who was hired Nov. 1, 2016 as the company’s executive vice president of operations and chief financial officer, received total compensation of $293,721 during the 2016 fiscal year. This includes a $100,000 signing bonus.
Snyder’s Lance, a snack food manufacturer, reported revenue of more than $2.31 billion in its 2016 fiscal year, an increase of 37.9 percent. Operating income for 2016 was $103.6 million, compared to $101.4 million in 2015.
Snyder’s Lance’s annual meeting will be on Wednesday, May 3, at 9 a.m. eastern time at The Ballantyne Hotel & Lodge in Charlotte.
The company’s shares were trading at $40.11 on Monday afternoon, up 26 cents or 0.65 percent.
