Security Industry Specialists Inc., which provides security solutions for companies, will lay off all 96 employees at its Forest City, North Carolina facility, due to the loss of its contract at the Facebook Data Center located at 408 Social Circle.

This is according to a filing in accordance Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act.

Over 80 percent of the employees to be laid off are security specialists. The rest are security operations center operators, shift supervisors and one operations manager. The official termination date is expected to be Jan. 31, 2017.

A Facebook spokesman said that the company is changing contract security vendors for its data centers. A new security company contractor, G4S Secure Solutions was selected after the company sent out a request for proposal.

“G4S has an open recruitment policy, and anyone including the incumbent security provider’s current employees at the Forest City data center are welcome and encouraged to apply for positions,” said the Facebook spokesman. “It is expected that many will transition to G4S. Facebook is not involved in the hiring decisions of its vendors, including G4S. G4S will manage the hiring process and will be solely responsible for determining which security personnel to hire and place on site at the data center.”

A new job posting for a part-time position as security operations center operator in Maiden, North Carolina, about 50 miles from Forest City, appeared on the company’s website on Tuesday.
