Jazz Arts Initiative Brings Preservation Hall All Stars to Charlotte for Christmas Show

11/7/16

Charlotte’s Jazz Arts Initiative (JAI) will be celebrating the holidays this season with "A Preservation Hall All-Stars Christmas" on Tuesday, Dec. 6 from 6:30–9:00PM at the Blumenthal Booth Playhouse, 130 North Tryon Street in Charlotte. Part of JAI's acclaimed Jazz Room series, this special holiday show is for all ages and a major fundraiser to support the JAI Jazz Academy and Performance programs.

New Orleans famed Preservation Hall was established in 1961 to honor and preserve traditional New Orleans jazz. The Preservation Hall All-Stars are the premiere ensemble of the most tenured artists from this honored institution. Each performer bears a unique connection to the earliest practitioners of jazz itself - some by bloodline - but all united by the sheer power of tradition.  In addition to performing at the Hall weekly and internationally throughout the year, these remarkable musicians continue to pass the torch to the younger generation through education and music outreach.

"To bring the magic of New Orleans' Preservation Hall to Charlotte has been a dream for years," said JAI President and CEO Lonnie Davis. "The opportunity to hear these amazing musicians swing through all the holiday favorites will indeed be a tremendous Christmas gift for Charlotte."

All attendees are welcome to enjoy a pre-show reception from 5:30-6:30PM featuring complimentary appetizers from some of the finest center city restaurants and a special silent auction with some impressive items up for bid. Tickets are $25 in advance or $28 at the door (if available) and can be purchased at CaroilinaTix.org or by calling 704-372-1000.
