Michael Cunningham, executive vice president and general counsel of Red Hat Inc., sold $1.2 million worth of Red Hat Inc. stock on Oct. 4.

Cunningham sold 15,000 shares of stock for $80.42 according to a Form 4 filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Following the sale, Cunningham still owns 37,484 shares worth over $3 million.

Cunningham started at Red Hat in 2004. He previously worked for IBM as an associate general counsel and as a partner and associate general counsel for PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Red Hat recently reported revenue of $599.8 million for three months ended Aug. 31, up 19 percent compared to last year. This number was more than $10 million than analyst estimates. Read more about it here.

The company also approved changes in executive stock ownership in late September.

Red Hat stock closed at $79.65, down 55 cents, or 0.69 percent, on Tuesday.
