Local Nonprofits PORCH and InterAct Partner with Orangetheory Fitness Wake Forest for Give Back Event

9/16/16

Orangetheory Fitness Wake Forest is proud to partner with InterAct of Wake County and PORCH of Western Wake for a community-wide give back event Friday, Sept. 30 from 9 a.m. to noon. The Wake Forest fitness studio will be collecting much needed items for PORCH as well as fundraising for InterAct through workouts and a fun shopping event with Kokoon clothing.

The popular fitness studio has a goal of donating over 1,100 pounds of products to PORCH. Items needed, include: juice boxes, health snacks and canned foods with pull tabs. Members of the studio are encouraged to bring in donations for PORCH anytime this month. Those interested in donating who are not yet members are invited to stop by the Wake Forest studio to drop off items for PORCH as well.

Additionally, the studio has a goal to raise more than $1,000 for InterAct through a Kokoon clothing trunk show. A portion of all Kokoon purchases on Sept. 30 will directly benefit the nonprofit that provides safety, support, and awareness to victims and survivors of domestic violence, rape and sexual assault.

Local owner Kristine Bernecki also pledged to donate 15 cents to InterAct for every splat point earned during classes throughout the day. Members can create their own pledge cards to benefit InterAct as well. Non-members are invited to a first free class to raise money for InterAct, too. Splat points are how the fitness studio captures each individual’s workout based on heart rate and how long the participant stays in the Orange and Red Zones combined. The harder the individual works out, the more money is raised for InterAct.

“I am extremely passionate about giving back to those in need. I am honored to provide the opportunity for our members and local residents to help make a difference in the community,” said Kristine Bernecki, Orangetheory Fitness Wake Forest studio owner. “We’ve hosted events benefitting veterans, teachers, blood drives, and the Boys & Girls Club of Wake Forest to name a few. We truly enjoy using our facility and resources to make an impact however we can. We hope to see everyone at the studio Sept. 30 from 9 a.m. to noon. Remember, if you can’t make it, you can still participate!”

All local residents are invited to attend the event completely free of charge, rain or shine. Families are encouraged to come and dogs on leashes are also welcome. To learn more about the event and get involved, call (919) 761-7778 or visit startburningotf.com/wake-forest.

About Orangetheory Fitness Wake Forest

Orangetheory Fitness is a one-of-a-kind group training workout broken into intervals of cardiovascular and strength training. Backed by the science of Excess Post-Exercise Oxygen Consumption (EPOC), Orangetheory Fitness’ heart-rate-monitored training is designed to keep heart rates in a target zone that stimulates metabolism and increases energy. Led by skilled instructors, participants use a variety of equipment including treadmills, water rowers, TRX Suspension Training and free weights, burning 500 to 1,000 calories per class.
