Social & Scientific Systems, Inc. (SSS), a public health research company, is pleased to announce the appointment of Paul Gorrell, PhD, as group vice president of its Health Policy and Data Analysis Group.
Dr. Gorrell brings 20 years of research and management experience to his leadership role, including corporate strategy and providing expert oversight for numerous projects investigating issues in health services research. These projects include serving as the project director on several Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services projects and as principal investigator on a National Institutes of Health project to build a database for health economists researching state-level variation in statutes and regulations related to health care and health care reform.
Prior to joining SSS, Dr. Gorrell was vice president of IMPAQ International’s Health Division which included their health policy research and health data analysis work. He was also the director of Quality Assurance for the firm. Before that, he was a senior research scientist at SSS.
“Dr. Gorrell is a nationally known expert in analytic programming, particularly with respect to health services research and quality control,” said Kevin Beverly, SSS president and CEO. “I am very pleased that he will once again be part of the SSS team.”
Dr. Gorrell has written numerous publications and has been invited to present at various forums in the areas of Medicare payment policy as well as health care reform, cost, and use. Dr. Gorrell holds an MA and PhD in Linguistics from the University of Connecticut.
