RCCA and Osler Health Join Forces to Provide Cancer Care using Collaborative Physician Teams

6/14/16

Cancer patients have good reason to be more optimistic about the quality and effectiveness of their care in the near future.

Regional Cancer Care Associates LLC, or RCCA, New Jersey’s largest cancer care physician’s group and Osler Health, a next-generation patient centered physician network, which is one of New Jersey’s largest, will work quickly to employ their respective common clinical platforms and care analytics to elevate cancer treatment to levels of quality and effectiveness that have not been possible without their technologically enabled collaboration.

Both RCCA and Osler are owned and governed by their participating physicians as patient centered medical practices and require hospitals to meet high quality and service standards and to provide patient care under their physicians’ direction.

“RCCA is excited to enter into a partnership to deliver integrated, value based, high quality healthcare with Osler Health across our 30 cancer care delivery facilities located throughout New Jersey and Maryland. RCCA using COTA, a cancer care analytics company, along with Osler Health's proprietary information technology system will share data between physicians to enhance care outcomes and reduce the total cost of care” said Terrill Jordan, President of RCCA.

"We at Osler Health view our partnership with RCCA as the promise of a new standard and means of coordinated cancer care delivery that represents a major step forward for the health and financial benefit of our patients," said Thomas S. Bellavia, M.D., Osler Health’s chairman.

“Our proprietary technology and techniques are specifically designed to enable and keep people well as fully integrated care teams,” Bellavia continued.

To enhance patient communications, access to care and education, Osler has partnered with TouchCare, a mobile platform that enables patients to engage in video consults with their own physician from any mobile device, at any time, and, VITAS Healthcare, the nation’s leading provider of end-of-life care, to provide collaborative patient and family services and support ongoing education to Osler and RCCA physicians and case management staff.

“We are thrilled to be collaborating with Osler, Vitas and RCCA to further increase patient access to their high-quality network of specialized oncology and primary care providers through our HIPAA-compliant video consult app,” said Damian Gilbert, TouchCare CEO and Founder. “We have all been personally touched by cancer and know firsthand that making it easier for patients to connect with their care teams has huge benefits for both providers and patients.”

“Cancer does not always have an unhappy ending,” said James Doulgeris, Osler’s CEO, “but it does come with profound anxiety and uncertainty for every patient, their family and their friends. Taking the next step from integrated care to collaborative care using enhanced communication, education and support serves to ensure the right care at the right time by the right physician.

We are confident that this advanced care model will result in more focused and effective care at lower cost, lessening the emotional and financial burden on our patients and their families.”
